Auricle Chondritis/Pericondritis (syndrome)

Etiology
  • Infectious
    • Complication of a superficial dermatosis (impetigo, superinfected eczema), trauma (burns, frostbite, surgery, acupuncture)
    • Pseudomonas aeruginosa & Staphylococcus aureus
 
Clinical presentation
  • Large, red, painful ear
  • Thickening of the cartilage
  • Disapearance of the folds of the antihelix
  • Fever and general syndrome
 
Tretament
  • Parenteral antibiotic
