Clinical presentation
- Desquamation, erythema, edema, oozing, discharge and crusting, pruritus and pain in the canal opening and concha, with varying degrees of depth of involvement in the canal

- Anatomical abnormalities of the canal
- Abnormalities in cerumen secretion
- Abundance of tragus hair
- Presence of seborrheic or atopic dermatitis

- Tropical climate

- Bacterial and fungal infections
- Aspergillus
- Candida albicans (fluffy grayish-white appearance of atomycosis)
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Chronic carriage of Staph aureus in external auditory canal
- Sensitization
- “bacterial eczema” or contact eczema
Course of action
- Cultura
- Testes epicutâneos
- Observar membrana timpânica
Tratamento
- Otorrino
- Evitar tópicos sensibilizantes: aminoglycosides, chlorhexidinie, polymixin B, chloranphenicol
- Topical steroid drops
- Instillation of 0,5% silver nitrate aqueous solution
