Classification: 4 broad categories
- Dystrophic - calcium goes to pre-existing trauma without systemic abnormalities of calcium regulation. Presents as clusters of small white papules
- Metastatic - calcium deposited in suscetible areas because too high
- Iatrogenic
- Extravasation of calcium gluconate, calcium chloride or phosphate containing intravenous solutions
- Idiopathic
- Idiopathic calcified nodules of the scrotum
- Subepidermal calcified nodule
- Tumoral calcinosis
- Milia-like calcinosis
- Associated with Down syndrome
Treatment of calcinosis cutis in general
- no effective medical therapy exists
- injeção intralesional com tiosulfato de sódio
- iboprost iv (perfusao lenta, precisa de internamento)
- diltiazem
- surgical excision
- Other: low dose warfarin, biphosphonates, probenecid, colchicine, TNF inhibitors, aluminium hydroxide, sodium thiosulfate, eletric shock wave lithotripsy
Na calcinose cútis pode se fazer injeção intralesional com tiosulfato de sódio ou fazer iboprost iv (perfusao lenta, precisa de internamento)
