Infecção crônica granulomatosa da pele devido a Staph (menos frequente pseudomonas, proteus, moraxella, serratia)
Etimologia
Despite the name "botryomycosis," which literally means "fungus-like clusters," it is caused by bacterial pathogens rather than fungi.
The name "botryomycosis" was first coined in the late 1800s when the condition was originally thought to be a fungal infection due to the presence of small granules in infected tissue that resembled fungal spores. However, further research revealed that these granules were actually clusters of bacterial cells.
