Bacterial vaginosis (not STD!)

Etiology: Gardnerella vaginalis
  • Imbalance in the vaginal flora
  • pH that is too alkaline
  • Proliferation of anaerobic bacteria, namely Gardnerella vaginalis
 
Clinical presentation
  • Profuse, foul-smelling vaginal discharge
  • Positive potassium test
  • Overly alkaline pH
  • Presence of clue cells
 
Treatment
  • Metronidazol óvulos
  • Metronidazol 1g PO 1 week
