Sign of Leser-Trelat - sudden eruptive seborrheic keratosis

  • May appear inflammatory
  • May appear secondary to erythroderma
  • Mechanism
    • Growth factor secretion by tumor cells, particularly Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) or Transforming Growth Factor-α (TGF-α).
    • May be linked to IL-6 and inflammatory cytokine production in the setting of erythroderma.
