Lipoma solitário

  • Very common tumor, soft, compressible, mobile under the skin when pressed with the fingers, painless or sometimes sensitive, consisting of mature adipose tissue often carrying chromosomal abnormalities
  • Most common locations
    • Posterior cervical fibrolipoma in elderly subjects
    • Subaponeurotic lipoma of the forehead in adult males
    • Perisudoral lipoma of the limb roots, particularly the upper thighs
    • Brown fat lipoma (hibernoma) of the supraclavicular or interscapular regions
    • Lumbosacral lipoma, sometimes associated with occult spinal dysraphism
