Clinical presentation
- Flesh colored dome-shaped papule
- Centered by a small depression from which a tuft of hair emerges inconsistently
- Cervicocephalic region, particularly on the nose
Dermoscopy
- “Firework” appearance, where dark brown radial projections scatter from a central area without structure
Histology: characteristic
- large central follicle in pseudocystic dilatation
- Secondary or tertiary follicles form radially, more or less differentiated
- Optionally equipped with a rudimentary sebaceous gland and retaining trichogenic activity
- Lanugo hairs gather in the infundibulum of the main follicle and emerge from its ostium
