Progressive Macular Hypomelanosis

Clinical presentation
  • Poorly nargubated hypopigmented macules that favor the trunk, but may involve the proximal extremities and head/neck
  • Afro-caribbean population
 
Diagnosis
  • Fluorescence localized to the follicles is pathognomonic
  • May be related to cutibacterium acnes bacteria within hair follicles
 
Treatment
  • UVA
  • Topical benzoyl peroxide
  • Topical clindamycin
